Themes

A theme is the overall appearance of the site. It is like a skin or template. That means it can be edited or changed with very few implications. Remember: there are three parts to a modern web site: the infrastructure, the design or theme, and the content.

All of this site’s components are optimized for our theme, e.g., the width of the side bar, and the size of the components that appear in them, etc. For example, the number of flags in a row work well with this theme but are too wide for other themes.

Themes for our content management systerm are nearly standardized, and are almost completely interchangeable–but not quite. That’s why it is important to use a consultant who clearly specifies trade-offs between the site’s design, functionality, and manageability. There are always trade-offs!

Just about any design is available–with a few caveats.

So search the web, find something that you like, tell us what you want, and we’ll design it.
